Desk drawers are wonderful things. They keep our clothes neatly folded, they give us an extra space to put all of the little odds and ends that accumulate on our desks, and they help with organizing any area we have.

But what if you don’t have drawers? What do you do then? In this blog post, Focal Upright will share some tips for how to organize a desk without drawers!

The organization of a desk is essential because it helps you stay organized in other areas of life. With these helpful tips, you’ll be able to use your desktop or workbench as efficiently as possible. You can save time when searching for items by keeping them in easily accessible places that make sense for what the item is used.

Clear your desk of anything you don’t need.

Clear space is key to staying organized! – To keep a clear workspace, you must remove any items on the desk that are unnecessary or useful for what you’re working on right now. This includes pens and pencils. It’s best to place your articles close together and in easy reach.

This will help with organization but also keep things from being lost on your desk! Place them, so they are within arm’s reach of where you’re sitting.

Use a tray for all the items you need most often.

It’s best to place your articles close together and in easy access. This will help with organization but also keep things from being lost on your desk! Place them, so they are within arm’s reach of where you’re sitting.

A simple solution is to put an inexpensive tray over your desk space – this way, everything stays organized, neat, and keeps the desk tidy while still giving enough room below it for working or storing other supplies like pens, rulers,…

The benefits of having trays under each section of my work surface mean I don’t have to worry about spilling anything when reaching across my desk (which gets really annoying). Using different size bowls to hold my other office items on the tray also makes it easy to see what I need and how much of something I have.

Add a Separate Storage Cabinet

A storage cabinet can provide a lot of extra storage space if you have the space. These cabinets are ideal for hiding items you don’t often use or keeping things out of sight.

A glass-front cabinet is an excellent option if you have more valuable items. If you have a lot of paper to store, a filing cabinet is a good option.

Use a Desk Organizer

An essential organizing tool for your office desk is a desk organizer. A tray-like tool that is usually divided into smaller compartments.

It occupies a tiny area on your desk and can store small items such as markers, pencils and paperclips, business cards, letter openers, and letter openers. You can find each item by placing it in a designated compartment.

Install a Keyboard Tray

You can organize a desk without drawers by using the space that isn’t being used. Another surface you could use is the underside of your desk.

Consider installing a keyboard if you have a desktop computer without a separate keyboard tray.

Use a monitor stand

You can make your desk without drawers more functional by using a monitor stand. You can save desk space by using a monitor stand to organize your desk.

It also hides cables so that they are not visible or dangling above you as you work. Monitor stands are also great for cable management. They make it easier to reach wires and don’t require you to climb under desks to connect them.

Utilize vertical space

Even without drawer space, you can still keep your desk organized by using the wall space for storage. You can install shelves, hooks, and cabinets to your desk or a simple hanging organizer with many cubbies.

These organizing options will provide ample storage space to meet all your needs. A tall organizer can be used if your workspace is not suitable for shelves.

A hanging bar can be attached to the desk’s side.

Attach a tension rod to the legs of your desk, or attach a rod with hooks. This bar can be used to hang items containing pens, headphones, or other work supplies.

You can also attach hooks or storage boxes directly to the legs of your desk. This is what I did with my desk at home. Command Hooks were used to attaching my rulers that are too long to fit elsewhere.

Hang A Magnetic Bulletin Board

It was wallpapered in the same manner as the pegboard. I then hung some picture moldings to create a large enough frame for my magnetic bulletin board. Finally, the wallpapered sheet was installed inside the moldings using screws.

Magnetic spice tins are the perfect size for storing small office supplies like paper clips and flash drives. You can also sticky notes from it, just like any other bulletin board. Only this uses magnetic pins. I made the pink ones by attaching magnets to the bottom of cabinet knobs. This means that you don’t need to drill holes in anything to get it to work. It is also great for hanging photos.

If your desk has a very small space, you can use these magnetic hooks to hang small office tools such as staplers. These are intended to hold cleaning supplies, such as sponges, to the side of the sink. They are strong magnets so that they can hold heavier office supplies on the wall space.

Tie Down The Cords

Thinner strips wrapped around the desk legs keep the cable that needs to go to the floor from hanging out all over the place.

For this, I wrapped computer ties (which have velcro on the ends) around the legs of my desk.

And because it’s velcro, you can also detach them easily if you ever need to use the cord somewhere else (like I do when I’m traveling with my laptop).

Add Tension Rods/Rails/Hooks

Tension rods/rails placed between the legs of your desk can increase its storage capacity. A wire can be attached to the desk’s side rim, and containers can be fitted into it.

These containers can be used to store pencils, pens, and other office supplies. Hooks can be attached to the desk’s side to hold headphones or other equipment.

Keep a Large Trash Can Close

It is easy to forget what items need to go. You can place a trash can near your desk, and after you have finished work, clean up all the things that are still there. It’s going to keep your desk organized and looking its best. You can shop for a trash can here.

You should purge often.

To eliminate unnecessary items from your desk, create a routine. It is enough to do this once or twice per week. To avoid cluttering up your desk, you can store them on shelves. You should only pick them up when you need them. You should limit the number of items on your desk to those you use.

Wipe Your Desk Everyday

Make sure you clean your desk every day, especially if your work environment is messy or dusty. It is impossible to wipe down a desk without taking out all the items and then putting them back. You’ll be able to organize your items while you wipe the desk, then you’ll have an organized desk.

Choose the Best Location for Your Desk

The location is another essential aspect to consider when choosing an office desk. Although this is often true, desks without drawers tend is usually smaller than those with drawers. This can be a benefit, but it can also cause significant problems in the layout of your office.

The desk should not block free movement within the office. It should also be placed in a way that maximizes the storage area. The desk must be placed where items can be left temporarily, especially if the desk is the only one in the office.

Have a “Do it Now” attitude

Avoid procrastination to organize your desk. As soon as possible, complete any task or project you are assigned. You can eliminate files and other items faster if you start it sooner. Procrastinating will only lead to more tasks and, eventually, a cluttered desk.

Get rid of Peper clutter

My last tip about organizing a desk without drawers is to reduce the amount of paper that you have.

Since paper is one of the big producers of clutter in most home offices, you’ll have a much easier time keeping your desk tidy if there is less paper.

Desks are a standard feature in a work or office space. The size and number of desks you have in your office will depend on their size and type. Small spaces may not be able to accommodate more than one desk. Larger spaces might have multiple desks.
